Community Update, February 17

Angela Smith, Superintendent

February 17, 2023

Dear Madison Community:

I hope this update finds you well.  I continue to be in awe of the amazing weather we have had this winter and the ability to keep schools open has been a plus especially with the lake not having frozen fully.  Please remember that there is no school on Monday as it is Presidents Day.

Our Board meeting has been moved to Wednesday evening so as not to conflict with the Boys’ Basketball Team’s sectional play-off game against Notre Dame Cathedral Latin at Madison High School starting at 7:00.  To purchase OHSAA tournament tickets, click HERETo purchase a ticket, click on Baketball-Boys and go to Division II- Region 5,  Northeast 1 and our game will be the second one listed.  If you have questions,  reach out to John Dragas our Athletic Director at john.dragas@madisonschools.net

The Board wants to congratulate Treasurer Sarah Palm in the completion of the audit for the 2021-2022 fiscal year.  The district once again had a perfect audit and received the Auditor of State Highest Achievement Award in Open and Transparent Government.  For more information about the audit and the award, please contact Ms. Palm at sarah.palm@madisonschools.net

I would also like to congratulate the Madison High School Wrestling Team for winning the Western Reserve Conference Title.  Coach Tomaso and his team have worked hard to achieve this title.

Our newsletter this week features articles on our Athletic Department, Project Unify, and an update on the Pre-apprenticeship Grant. Please take time to read what is going on in the district.  If there is something you want to know more about regarding the district,  please email me at angela.smith@madisonschools.net.

I hope you have a wonderful weekend.  #MadisonStrong!

Sincerely,

Angela Smith

Superintendent
