Community Update, March 17

Dear Madison Community:

We are almost to Spring Break!  I hope that spring weather will accompany a much-needed break for our students!

Thinking ahead to next year, please mark your calendars for September 11-12, 2023.  Thanks to a generous gift from community donors, Reggie Dabbs will return to our district, bringing his anti-bullying message to all our students, K-12. This will help our students start the next school year strong.  Reggie will conclude his time in Madison with a community presentation.  For more information on Reggie Dabbs and his presentation, click here: https://theyouthalliance.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/02/Reggie-Brochure.pdf.  More to come, but we want to make sure you save the date.

As we enter the last part of the year, I want to emphasize the importance of our STREAK behaviors:  Safety, Teamwork, Responsibility, Effort, and Kindness.  These behaviors apply to all our students, in all settings and situations. When we return from break, each building will be reminding students to end the year strong by applying their best STREAK behaviors.  As partners in your children’s education, be sure to talk with them about how these behaviors contribute to their success in school and in life.

When we return from break, state testing will be in full force for students in grades 3 to 12.  This testing is critical to help us see where we need to help our students improve and where we as a district should focus our instructional goals. If you have any questions about state testing and the schedule, please contact your child’s principal.

Our newsletter this week features articles on NEOSTEAM’23, a unique collaboration between Science and Spanish courses, and our National Honor Society and National Junior Honor Society Induction ceremonies.  Please take time to read what is going on in the district.  If there is something you would like to know more about regarding the district, please email me at angela.smith@madisonschools.net.

I hope you have a wonderful weekend.  #MadisonStrong!

Sincerely,

Angela Smith

Superintendent
