Community Update, May 2

Angela Smith, Superintendent

May 2, 2022

Dear Madison Community,

As we close out the school year, we begin to look to the next. We are in the process of starting our Kindergarten Registration for the class of 2035; children who will be five before September 30, 2022 are eligible to register. At the April 19th Board meeting, the Board approved to have all day everyday kindergarten for the next two years. All forms can be found at www.madisonschools.net under Student Registration. If you have specific questions regarding Kindergarten, please contact either Shannon Kriegmont at shannon.kriegmont@madisonschools.net or Bill Mayer at william.mayer@madisonschools.net

Our Madison High School Art students have been very busy. On Saturday, April 23, several students had entries in the Lake/Geauga Educational Assistance Foundation Umbrella Decorating Contest. Pauline Forman was awarded a $1000 1st Place Award in the Fine Arts Division and a $500 award as the Lighthouse Advisors, Fine Arts Choice Award Winner. Her winning entry was entitled, I am Woman.

On another front, our Art Club students are competing in the Vans Custom Culture National Contest – and they have made it to the top 50 shoe designs for public voting! Any community member can vote once a day until May 6. There is a sizable cash prize that would greatly support our Madison High School art program. Click here to vote now

Tomorrow is Election Day. Our Board Office/Pre-K building is an election site as well as South Elementary in the village. School is in session, and as in past years during the primary, so we will again have an extra officer on duty in both buildings.

As this is Teacher and Staff appreciation week, I would be remiss if I did not recognize our dedicated and committed teachers, aides, secretaries, bus drivers, custodians, nutrition services staff, nurses, and administrators who work tirelessly for our students and community each and every day. Our staff truly cares about our students and goes above and beyond to help them expect. . . believe. . . and achieve.

Here is to finishing the year #MadisonStrong!

Sincerely,

Angela Smith

Superintendent
