Successful sports season

It was only a few months ago that many of us were just hoping to start the fall sports season -- fast-forward to the present, and the season is coming to a close! We’ve had an amazing run; with all of the COVID-19 restrictions and protocols, it has been a successful season. All of our teams were able to have a full season and play all of their contests, which is more than we could have hoped for.

That being said, we’d like to congratulate our teams on a great season.

  • Congratulations to the 2020 Lady Blue Streaks Tennis Team on a very successful season as they finished with a 12 and 8 record in a very tough Western Reserve Conference (one of our best team records in a number of years). Special mention to Junior Elizabeth Bottar (1st singles) who won her 1st three matches in sectionals and qualified for day 2 of competition before bowing out (she is our first Lady Blue Streak in nearly 20 years to accomplish this feat)!

  • Congratulations to the 2020 Lady Blue Streaks Soccer Team on a great year as they finished up with a record of 9 – 5 – 2. The Boys Blue Streaks Soccer team played very competitively as well, and both teams are preparing to enter the OHSAA tournament play next week.

  • Congratulations to our boys and girls cross country teams as they finished their seasons. They hosted 5 home meets this year! This Saturday, they travel to Kenston HS to compete in the WRC tournament. On the following Saturday, October 24th, Madison HS will host the OHSAA Districts for all the Division 1, 2 and 3 boys and girls teams in Northeast Ohio.

  • Congratulations to our MHS Blue Streaks Marching Band who, despite not being able to have the traditional band camp in August, put together a wonderful program. Led by Band Director Brett Tomko and senior drum major Suzanna Lausin, the band performed at home football games and completed their season with a special band night on October 7th to perform for all of their parents and family members. During this night, there was a special tribute to the Class of 2021 seniors. Well done, band!!

  • The Lady Blue Streaks Volleyball team completed their 18 game schedule and will begin OHSAA tournament sectional play on Tuesday, October 20th vs Lakeside High School (away). Good luck to our Lady Streaks.

  • Although it was a very trying season for our Blue Streak Football team as they suffered a rash of injuries, they completed their OHSAA shortened season (6 games) and competed in the OHSAA State Tournament sectionals last week vs Willoughby South HS. The season will finish up on Friday, October 16th vs Harvey HS (away). Good luck to our Blue Streaks who try to finish up the season on a winning note!
