COVID-19 Update, May 15, 2020

Dear Madison Community,

 

 

I want to take this opportunity to thank you for all your efforts these past two months.  So many in the community have reached out to help our students and our soon-to-be-graduates during this extremely challenging time.  We know the last part of this school year has not been easy for our students and families, and I applaud your ability to adapt to the ever-changing circumstances.  

 

In the next couple of weeks, we will be surveying parents about various topics regarding their family’s experiences this spring and be asking opinions regarding education in the fall.  Through the media this week, the Ohio Department of Education has released a draft document regarding school in August.  While we do not yet know exactly what next school year will bring, I do know that it will not be 100% business as usual.  Your input will help us to develop a plan that works for our schools and community, so when the survey is available, please take the time to reflect and share with us. 

 

While I will not be doing weekly updates throughout the summer, I will be reaching out when there is information to share.  Please check your emails, Infinite Campus, and the website for important information.  Also, please continue to contact me with questions or concerns; I may not have answers right away, but I will do my best.  

 

Each building has set dates for students to return and pick up materials.  Elementary pick-up dates are next week Wednesday,  May 20 – Friday, May 22, with the exception of fifth grade.  Their pick-up will be May 26.  Please contact the building principals if you have questions about the specifics.  

 

High School Students will be returning materials on Thursday and Friday, May 28 and 29.  There will be more information coming next week about the procedures and how to get materials left in student lockers.  MMS has scheduled students pick-up on Monday – Wednesday, June 1, 2, and 3.  More information can be found on our webpage.  

 

If your student used a district chromebook, we have scheduled the following dates and times for you to return them to Madison Middle School:

 

  • May 27, 12:00 p.m -7:00 p.m.

  • May 28, 10 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

  • May 29, 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

 

We will continue our food pick-up program though the week of June 30.  All pick-ups will continue to be Mondays except for Memorial Day week.  Our pick up that week will be Tuesday, May 26.  With the new traffic pattern, the hours will go back to 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. 

 

As I close today, I want to congratulate the Class of 2020 on their graduation.  This class represents the resilience necessary to survive today.  They are bright, passionate and talented, and they are on their way to making this world a better place.  I am proud to have gotten to watch their educational journey and wish them nothing but the best in life!
