Dear Madison Community,

As we enter the month of October, there is a lot going on in the district. Next weekend is Homecoming Weekend, and with that comes the celebration of our Homecoming Court – congratulations to our Seniors who are on the court. The Homecoming Court includes Andrew Laurie, Carter Fellenstein, Julian Zappitelli, Seth Gabor, Jeffrey Smith, Elizabeth Worthy, Elizabeth Lausin, Catrina Calvert, Campbell Wood, and Kearsten Woleben. Next week, they will participate in the annual Homecoming Assembly, and the Queen will be crowned at the game against Chardon on October 7. The dance is scheduled for October 8 at Madison High School.

Thank you to the Madison Joint Recreation District for sponsoring the Car Raffle with the Chevy Network Dealers and Classic Chevrolet of Madison. If you have not bought a ticket yet, please go to www.madisonschools.net and click on the link. Tickets will also be available this weekend at the Cross Country Meet, as well as at all buildings throughout the district. The Madison Joint Recreation District will be donating the proceeds from the raffle to our district to be used for improvements to the athletic complex. Tickets are $10 each, and the goal is to sell 10,000 tickets.

As we enter cooler weather, we ask that you ensure your contact information in Infinite Campus is updated. When we have a calamity day, I will post it on twitter @SuperASmith, we will send out an IC notification, and we will post it on the news channels.

Next week, some of our high school students will be participating in the Think Manufacturing Expo at Willoughby South High School, where they will participate in career activities and be able to talk with manufacturers. As our students look at various post-secondary options,  this event is timely and relevant. Thank you to the sponsors of this event: The Alliance for Working Together Foundation (AWT), the Eastern Lake County Chamber of Commerce, the Mentor Area Chamber of Commerce, and the Willoughby Western Lake County Chamber of Commerce.

Please check out the Good News newsletter – this week, it features our Elementary Literacy Program and North Elementary Principal Doug Baker.  Have a wonderful weekend! #MadisonStrong!

Sincerely,

Angela Smith

Superintendent
