Dear Madison Community,
My goal throughout this process has been to provide you information in a timely fashion. While the focus of the past several updates has been on graduation and seniors, today’s update is looking to closing this year and planning for next. For seniors and their families, our team is still reviewing the guidance from the Ohio Department of Education and the Ohio Department of Health; we are looking at all the possibilities available to us, as well as how to move forward. We are planning to survey the senior class early next week with the options that have been reviewed by our local health department. We will then be meeting with the senior class officers to finalize our plans. We know decisions about graduation are time-sensitive so families may make plans; our goal is to be able to share details by the end of next week.
So today I turn to next year. We do not know what next year is going to look like at this time. In an ideal world, I would say that next year will be like every other year. But that is not our reality. However, there are things that we need to do right now in order to be ready for next year, no matter what that ends up looking like.
Our first task is scheduling for our high school students. Normally by now, this process has begun. Our high school staff is ready to begin scheduling on Monday, May 4. There will be a link on both the district and high school websites for instructions by grade level. Each grade level will have the following information to use as a guide for requesting courses:
Course request procedures for all 8th, 9th, 10th and 11th graders
Information sheet by grade level of suggested courses to request
Course scheduling booklet with the description of courses
Powerpoint scheduling presentation
Counselor contact information for questions
The counselors have asked that all course requests be submitted by Friday, May 22.
I have gotten numerous questions about various trip refunds. The tour companies have issued the refunds for our middle school trips, and we are beginning to process individual refunds. This should be completed in the next couple of weeks. Please contact Mr. Brady at email@example.com.
The response to our meal program has increased over the last several weeks. As of now, this program will continue through the week of June 30 at the middle school. We have extended the hours to run from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. I want to recognize all our Nutrition Services Staff. Today is: “National Thank a Lunch Super Hero Day”. Our staff has been amazing during this crisis, and has helped to provide a much needed service to the community.
Finally, next week is Teacher and Staff appreciation week. We are blessed in Madison to have so many caring staff who have reached out in all sorts of ways to our students. Take time next week to thank that speccial teacher or staff person who has made a difference for our students.
