Madison High School Art Club students have submitted their designs to the Vans Custom Culture Competition for 2022! Vans is a company that makes footwear and apparel inspired by skaters and originality. Students designed and created a unique shoe design that encapsulates the themes “Van D(IY)oren Legacy” and “Hometown Pride.” The photos included will be submitted for the opportunity to win $50,000 for the Madison Art program.
The first round of judging will be April 18, where judges will narrow the submissions to the top 50 designs. From there, the public will have the chance to vote online for the top five finalists. Online voting begins on April 25, and each school has the chance to make it to the finals by rallying their communities to support throughout that process!
The grand-prize winning school will be announced on May 16, 2022, and will receive a $50,000 check for the program; runner-ups will receive $15,000, and the top five schools will each receive an artist mentorship lesson from one of Van’s art ambassadors. In addition, Vans and Scholarship America will provide an opportunity for graduating seniors from the top 250 schools’ designs to apply for a $10,000 scholarship, where five seniors will be chosen for a total of $50,000 donated.
Keep an eye out for the Art Club’s designs and if we make it through to the online voting process!
