Dear Madison Community:
I hope that you found time today to get some much-needed fresh air. I know when I am done with this update, I am going to take a walk and celebrate the signs of spring.
I have been getting many questions about Google Classroom and student expectations. This week was a week to learn not only for staff, but for students. Next week is our scheduled spring break; we want our students to enjoy as much as possible – and not be stressed over school work. However, we hope that on Monday, March 30, all students will have confirmed they can log on and “return to school” ready to learn.
We know that online learning is new for many parents as well as some students. Over the next week, we will be posting FAQs regarding not only the hardware, but questions about Google Classroom. Our staff has been working hard to prepare for after break. I will continue to take questions via email, and will send necessary updates as information unfolds.
While the Governor has not extended the closing of schools beyond April 3, he continues to share that we should prepare to be out longer. How long is still undetermined. The one thing I know for sure is that our staff has been working hard to continue to provide instruction in this unprecedented time.
I would encourage you to go to our website, www.madisonschools.net, for updated information and resources to help not only with instruction, but also meals and mental health supports.
If you are able, I encourage those who can to support our local businesses that help our schools in so many ways. Whether it is buying take-out or just writing a note of encouragement to them during this crisis, I know it would be appreciated. If you are looking for an activity for your children, have them write notes to our first responders and medical professionals as well. They are on the front lines, trying to keep everyone safe and healthy.
Together we will get through this, and support not only our students but each other during the challenges that we are currently facing.
