Dear Madison Community,
I hope that everyone has adjusted to the routines of the school year, whether virtual or in-person. We are happy to have our doors open for education and happy to see students learning again. We continue to need your support to assess your children daily for symptoms related to COVID-19. We are asking all families, whether virtual or in-person, to let us know when your child is ill and if they have been or are going to be tested for COVID-19. We are required to report this information weekly to the Lake County General Health District, and they in turn report it to the state. Most importantly, keep your children home when they do not feel well. This will help to contain the spread of not only COVID but other illnesses as well.
All students, whether in-person or virtual, need to have an updated Emergency Medical Authorization Form in Infinite Campus. You can complete the form by going to the parent portal and navigate to “More” on the left side of the screen. Click on EMA/Athletics. A separate form must be completed for every student. These forms, plus the photo release form, must be updated annually. If you have questions, please contact your school’s main office.
Parent-Teacher Conferences began last night at the high school. All conferences are virtual this year. The remaining dates and times are as follows:
Madison High School - Thursday, September 24, 3:15-6:30 pm (dinner break 4:00-4:30 pm)
Madison Middle School- Thursday, October 1 and Thursday, October 8, 3:00-6:30 pm
North Elementary School - Wednesday, October 14 and Thursday, October 22, 2:30-6:00 pm
South Elementary School - Wednesday, October 14 and Thursday, October 22, 2:30-6:00 pm
Madison Pre-K - Dates to be announced
Conferences are an excellent opportunity to talk with your child’s teacher about their successes and challenges in the classroom and how you can help support their learning. No matter what grade level, conferences help you to be a partner in your child’s academic success.
I will continue to send updates throughout the year to keep you informed, as I have throughout this pandemic. I hope you have a wonderful weekend. Stay safe and well. We are Madison Strong!
Yours in Education,
Angela M. Smith
