MMS AHLI assembles Buddy Bags

AHLI

Madison would like to spotlight our Middle School Arthur Holden Leadership Institute (AHLI) for their continuous consideration in giving back to the community! Each year, the eighth grade students are responsible for a community service project, and this year, students decided they wanted to make “Buddy Bags.”

AHLI students fundraised to create the bags by hosting a bake sale at Madison Middle School; they also received a generous donation from Madison Walmart. Students assembled bags of stuffed animals, crayons, coloring books, and more, with the intent being Madison Police Officers can give out these “Buddy Bags” to comfort a child in need. Due to Madison Walmart’s donation and other funds raised, AHLI was also able to donate the remaining funds of $571.50 to the Madison Food Center.

AHLI is a leadership group funded through a grant in partnership with the Lake County YMCA. This group begins with students in sixth grade that then work together for all three years at Madison Middle School. AHLI is run by three MMS teachers: Ms. Vilcheck, Mr. Thomas, and Ms. Nainiger.
