After serving as the Madison Local School District Treasurer for eleven years, Michael Vaccariello tendered his resignation on Wednesday, March 9. Mr. Vaccariello has accepted a position with Mentor Public Schools as their Assistant Treasurer and Business Operations, effective May 2.
“I have been honored to be the Treasurer of the Madison Local Schools. I wish the entire district success in the future. The Boards I have worked for during these years have been excellent and a pleasure to work for,” says Mr. Vaccariello. “The teaching and classified staff does so much with so little and the Superintendent and the administrative team work as hard as any that I know. Finally, my staff members are as dedicated as any staff members that I have worked with.”
“Mike has been a great Treasurer for our school district. Our loss is Mentor’s gain,” states Shawn Douglas, Madison Board of Education President.
“I am sad to see Mike leave. His experience in school finance is invaluable and his willingness to work as a part of the administrative team has been so appreciated. I wish him the best in his new position,” added Superintendent Angela Smith.
Mr. Vaccariello was an integral part of building two new schools and passing a new school operating levy in 2017, the first new operating dollars approved by Madison voters in thirty years. Prior to joining Madison, Vaccariello served as the Treasurer for Riverside Schools for fifteen years.
Madison will immediately begin a search for an Interim Treasurer to finish out the fiscal year and a permanent Treasurer to replace Mr. Vaccariello.
