  • Welcome to Miss Evans' Second grade class! I am so excited to start this school year in a new school! Please check out our online website throughout the year! We will capture many memories here from our class.

  • week 5:)

    Happy Fall!! I hope everyone enjoyed the nice weather this weekend! This week we will be reading in leveled reading groups. This is a great way to give each child an opportunity to work on the reading skills he/she needs. We are also learning in Social Studies how to be a good citizen. We will finish up our Unit 1 math and have our test on Wednesday! We are learning lots in room 235!

  • week 6!

    Happy October! This week we are reading in our guided reading groups, talking about what a scientist does, and practicing addition math facts! We will be doing lots of fun Fall related learning stuff this month!!

    A big Congratulations goes out to Bryant Perkins for receiving the Principal's Award last week! Go Bryant!

  • week 7- Johnny Appleseed

    This week we are learning about Johnny Appleseed! We are observing apples and doing an apple observation experiment in Science. In Social Studies we will be exploring the travels of Johnny Appleseed and important events in his life. We are practicing math fact strategies and learning about suffixes! Lots and lots of learning are going on in room 235!

  • week 8 - BATS

    This week we are reading Stellaluna by Janell Cannon . We will be comparing and contrasting bats to birds and also fiction and non-fiction. We will be studying real bats next week and using the IPADS and computer lab to look up facts about bats!

  • week 9- Batty Facts!
    This week we are doing the Stellaluna reader's theater! This is a great way to help with reading fluency! We are also studying non-fiction books about Bats and learning facts and opinions about bats!

    We will be going to the computer lab to research bat facts!

  • Halloween week!
    Happy Halloween week! This week we will be doing a reader's theater! We have been working hard on our reading with expression standard!

    We will continue bats and writing a creative writing activity about monsters!

    Walk-a-thon is this Tuesday! Wear your comfy clothes!

    Halloween Party is this Thursday! wear your costume and be ready for some fun! smiley

  • Happy November!
    Happy November! No School on Tuesday Nov. 5th for Election day! Conferences will be this Wednesday and next Tuesday! I look forward to seeing you all!


    We will be reading the Miss Nelson books this month and working on comparing and contrasting stories, connecting details and information to different books and character traits!


  • week 12-Miss Nelson is Back!

    This week we are reading the second Miss Nelson book! We are comparing and contrasting books along with the characters!

    We are working on number stories and learning about Veteran's Day!

  • week 13 :)

    We are reading the last Miss Nelson book of the series! We will be comparing and contrasting Miss Nelson and Miss Swamp this week!

    We will be going to the Computer lab to practice our Everyday math games!

    We will be starting to learn paper-pencil addition strategies !

  • Happy December! This week we are reading Elves and the Shoemaker! We are learning about different holiday traditions and are starting geometry in math! Our Elf on the Shelf -Candy Cane is keeping us company as we learn!!

  • Happy New Year !

    Happy New Year! I hope everyone enjoyed the time off with their family and friends. This week we are reading Corduroy by, Don Freeman.We will be reviewing Goods & Services in Social Studies and will be starting to learn about letter writing soon!

    I can't believe we are already almost half way through January! The time is flying by so quickly this year! Conferences are coming up and our Valentine's Day party! I look forward to the second half of the year. Our reading benchmarking assessments will be done in these next 2 weeks. I have seen so much growth and I am excited to see where they will go!

  • week 26- Happy March!

    Happy March! I hope this month warms up! This month we are focusing on Dinosaurs in both Reading and Science. We will be writing letters to our pen pals and working on fractions and measuring in Math.

  • Happy Spring! This week we are making our own fossils! We are working on our pen pal letters and our poems for our published book! I hope everyone has a wonderful Spring Break! See you in April!

  • May is Here!

    Happy May!

    This month we will be working on biography reports! We will also have a presentation called  " WAX Museum" on our biography reports! More information to come soon! We will also be doing a 20 day count down with FUN activities to celebrate the end of the year!

    Also, I will be getting married on May 16th! I will be out on May 15th and 16th! I am getting so excited!

    We sent our Pen Pal letters and are excited to get them back! May is a busy month! We are working hard in room 235!
